Outside Perspectives Visits the Future Leaders at the Wildlife Conservation Society

Yesterday Outside Perspective's co-founders Shannon Zich and Nicky Wood, traveled to the Bronx Zoo for a special visit with an inspiring group of young people known as Future Leaders. We want to thank Ferney Geraldo and Sa’Dia Chance, Program Coordinator and Program Assistant of Future Leaders, for the opportunity to present and for their warm welcome.
The Future Leaders Program is a youth and workforce development program created by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), an international non-profit organization whose mission is to save wildlife and wild lands through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo.
The Future Leaders Program services teens and young adults ages 16-24. The program helps participants to develop their sense of social responsibility, learn critical life skills for success in their academic and/or employment pursuits, and gain tools to become effective leaders in their community and around the world.
We spoke for a Future Leaders "Career Day" about what it's like to start a non-profit, work for a non-profit and what Outside Perspectives does and why. We were also able to have some fun and laughs with games and initiative activities. Most importantly, after our presentation, most of the youth expressed a great interest and enthusiasm in joining Outside Perspectives for an expedition later this year in the summer or fall. We both feel very privileged to have met these amazing Future Leaders and are looking forward to setting up an expedition soon and finding ways to get to know them better.
