Expedition.Life. & Outside Perspectives

Outside Perspectives (OP) and Expedition.Life. have been long-time friends and partners in providing transformative outdoor experiences for youth. Expedition.Life. is a non-profit organization dedicated to achieving the vision and dreams of Nathan "Chewy" Bliss who was a dear friend to Nicky Wood, our Executive Director, and to Shannon Zich, Outside Perspectives' co-founder.

Here is more about Expedition.Life., taken from their website; Expedition.Life. was "founded on the idea that the great outdoors is a Sanctuary. A Sanctuary that holds many different meanings for many different people; from all walks of life. The great outdoors for some, can be a foundation for education or self realization, for others, a foundation for growth and learned independence, and for many it is a foundation for healing their mind, body and spirit." The family founded and run non-profit aims to support other non-profit organizations that focus on educating youth who come from underserved and under-resourced communities through offering opportunities to be immersed in the outdoors. Nate was one of OP's greatest supporters from the very start. He gave his support in the form of monetary donations as well as donating some of his own gear to help OP get off the ground. Expedition.Life. has carried on that legacy by funding OP's mission each year. Initially, financial support from Expedition.Life. supported Outside Perspectives in getting some of their first multi-day expeditions out. Their support also afforded OP the ability to develop rock climbing programs, dramatically increasing our impact, and are still a major part of our programming today.

This year, Expedition.Life. held its 6th Annual Golf Tournament with the proceeds going to both The Cape & Island Veterans Outreach Center and to Outside Perspectives. The funds received by OP will be added to our Nathan Bliss Memorial Fund. Our continued relationship with the Bliss Family and Expedition.Life. will determine how those funds will be best put to use, creating the highest impact in getting more youth outside on immersive wilderness experiences and the opportunity to find their own Sanctuary.

Despite not ONE of us on the OP Team knowing how to swing a golf club, we were honored to participate in the tournament this year. It was a beautiful day surrounded by so many of Nate's friends, family, and supporters. Many of whom were quite patient as they waited for us to…finally…get the ball in the hole. 😂

We are incredibly grateful to remain a friend and partner of Expedition.Life. and honored that they continue to choose Outside Perspectives to help live out Nate's legacy. Our 2023 Season is filling up and we can't wait to see more kids, in more of the kind of places that Nate loved, more often.

Sending a huge thank you to Expedition.Life. and the Bliss Family from all of us at OP!
